Not much to say for swimming class #3 except that it was perfect, two happy swimming kids! Which was great for afterwards when we drove to pick up Heather and kids and took the van to the beach! The kids practiced they're new skills and I don't think they could have been any happier, that goes for the mommies as well. A great day with very tired kids and minor sunburns to show for it. So much water this week though, one more class tomorrow and than maybe break, to dry up a bit!!

This picture was from last week, but it was cute and I had nothing from today.
Swim classs #2 was remarkably better. Of course bribes of Kindereggs and painted toenails go
a long way to get my children to try their best. Rosie jumped in and got right to it, blowing her bubbles and dunking her head underwater. The goal for William's class is to float unassisted for three seconds and he's getting there for sure. He's only complaint today was not that the water was too cold, but that he didn't want to let the swim instructor-in-training touch him because William didn't like his swimsuit, so he made it quite clear to all that only the regular teacher was to help him. And the biggest laugh was hearing that instructor saying 'okay guys, now it's time for more floats' followed by my William retorting 'no, I don't think we have enough time' while pointing to a clock on the wall. My goodness. Oh well, we three left the pool much happier and that's really all that matters. Two big toes painted, fourteen more to go (it makes sense to me, trust me :)

...I think this picture's even cuter than the last one :)
ps - swimming lesson #1 update - William did great, just hated being so cold (outdoor pool)
Rosie cried, ignored instructions, clung to her brand new instructor like she was the long lost mother she'd always been searching for (maybe she does wish for one less clumsy and more coordinated in the water, who knows). It was really quite sad, sigh. We'll see how tomorrow goes, there are eight more.

It was only a matter of time. After a few weeks of complaining about blurriness, the Doctor confirmed that our boy is farsighted and in need of glasses. And he couldn't love them more! He lay on his bed tonight reading away to us pretty much so he could put off having to take them off. As he describes them, they are purple on the outside with little silver squares on the sides and blue on the insides and he picked them out all on his own. Big boy :)

It was just one of those perfect summer days. The kids and I - inspired by the Little House on the Prairie books that William loves - took a picnic of homemade bread, cheese (whatever, cheese strings are technically cheese), lemonade, fruit and cookies to the creek. It wasn't really about the food though once we got there, it was more about running away screaming from the ducks they thought were going to attack us and our picnic fare, and playing in the water. After and quick and cold dinner this evening, we all went swimming at an outdoor pool. The kids wore their brand new lifejackets and William swam the length of the pool three times, he was so proud!
They are hopefully sleeping away right now, to bed late again, and we will continue our summer routine of up late and sleeping in, not too shabby. A good day.

Scott and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary last week. We were lucky enough to be able to leave the kids with Oma and Gramps and enjoy two days and a night of adult fun - that's right, we hit the used bookstores. We actually didn't eat much over the two days as a means of rationing our funds and spending them on books instead of food! Mind you, we did enjoy breakfast in bed at the hotel we stayed at, our first room service experience! I think our favourite part of the mini-break was the time in the hotel pool, just on our own splashing about. It was so much fun and I promise you Scott I won't mention one thing about watching "Mall Cops" back in our room while eating pizza and drinking our beer. It was a great time and yes, the kids also had a ball with Oma and Gramps and trips to the library, the dollar store and the children's museum. Thank you!!
And here's to forever years of pink fish and Fun!

Last week, William finished his first year of school. The class, being a spilt, had a JK celebration and an SK graduation. William was still a little tired from our camping weekend (and maybe even still a little wet!) but he and his friends gladly sang songs and smiled for the flashing lights of cameras. Rosie appreciated the chocolate cookies and freezies that were given out. It was an exciting day and we're very proud of our big boy, it was a great year with a great teacher. Now. Let the summer begin!
